Schooling and ExperienceI am in my eighth year at Y.E.S. I enjoy collaborating with classroom teachers and other school personnel to help our students in a variety of ways both in language and articulation. This year I get to serve students in grades preschool through 5th grade. I love seeing students learn new skills or strategies and be successful in their natural environment!
I grew up on a farm near Exeter. I attended Exeter and Exeter-Milligan Public Schools. I attended Doane College, majoring in psychology and education and then transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education & Human Sciences and a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I began my career at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska where I worked closely with children and families. I gained experience in the areas of traumatic brain injury, autism, augmentative and alternative communication, language delays and disorders, articulation and phonological disorders, apraxia, aphasia and more. Our therapy team worked closely with schools as our patients returned to their home school district. This is when I became more interested in working in a school district and serving students in an educational setting. |
